Women’s Basketball Loses to Seward County

Release Date:
Thursday, January 12, 2012

Pratt Community College’s Women’s Basketball team hosted the #8 team in the nation, Seward County Community College, on Wed., Jan. 11. Seward shot 47% from the field including hitting six three-pointers in the first half to jump out to a 42-17 lead through the first twenty minutes. The problems were the same ones that plagued Pratt at Cloud County last week, with 14 first half turnovers and not getting stops on the defensive end.

To the players credit they came out with more defensive intensity and effort in the second half. Cari Guyton, who was held scoreless in the first half, exploded for 19 points in the second and also finished with 15 rebounds. Playing with more energy and intensity on the defensive end the Beavers narrowed the gap and won the second half but it wasn’t enough as they fell 66-48.

The team is back on the road Sat., Jan. 14 looking to rebound at Dodge City Community College.
