Beaver Volleyball Begins Conference Play 1-0 After Defeating Dodge City
Pratt, Kan., -- The Lady Beaver Volleyball team took a 3 – 1 win over conference rival, the Dodge City Conquistadors, at Dennis Lesh Sports Arena on Thursday evening. The Lady Beaver started out the game slowly once again, but as is becoming their identity, they stormed back to win the last two sets with defense and some very timely hitting.
Sophomore outside hitter Kylee Pywell led the way with 15 kills and 4 blocks. It was the team’s best blocking performance of the season so far with 39 blocks. Once again the Lady Beavers had triple figure digs with 101 total on some very exciting at times scrambles and relentless pursuit. The Beavers were led by Sophomore Maci Grimes with 35 digs and Sophomore Shaylinn Kaus with 19. Freshman Ashlie Gramke recorded 12 digs and Pratt (Skyline HS) native Kaitlyn Swonger had 9 digs and 28 assists.
The Lady Beaver’s record was evened at 4 – 4 overall and a 1 – 0 conference start. The Lady Beaver will take the weekend off for some much needed rest before starting a tough 5 match away trip beginning next Wednesday at Hutchinson CC starting time is 6:30 pm. Please come out and support the Lady Beavers as this is a very exciting team to watch.
