3-1 victory for Men's Soccer Team lifts record to 2-1
The Men's Soccer Team took on Western Nebraska Community College in non-conference play on Saturday.
"Conditions were extremely dangerous with the temperature soaring," said Kevin Kewley, Head Men's Soccer Coach. "Players from both teams were suffering in the scorching heat."
The Beavers took control after 30 minutes of play when Nik Bohne scored after an assist from Braulio Morales. Just 5 minutes later, Eddie Hernandez scored in his first appearance for the Beavers this season with a header from close range .
W. Nebraska pulled a goal back just before the half time whistle to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Beavers as the half ended . After the break the Beavers dominated the game and got close to adding to their lead several times. Eventually Gordie MacNab smacked in a free kick from 25 yards out to give the Beavers a commanding 3-1 lead . The game finished 3-1 to the Beavers.
"Once again Scotty Robertson had another fine performance in nets for PCC," said Kewley. "Joe Pena and Dominic Swindler played superb defense, and the midfield of Callum Strang, Gordie MacNab, Jono Callaghan, Braulio Morales and Eddie Hernandez worked tirelessly in the heat. Forwards Gordo Rodriquez and Nik Bohne also played their part in a great win. This was a great display from the Beavers in difficult conditions."
This win boosts the Beavers to 2-1 on the season, who will play Northwest Tech today on campus at the campus soccer field.
