Cross Country Excels at Wild Wind Cross Country Festival

The Pratt Community College men and women's cross country team continued their 2012 campaign competing in the Wild West XC Festival on Saturday morning.
 
“The weather was cool and perfect conditions for an early season cross country meet,” said Ryan Turner, Head Coach of Track & Field and Cross Country. "All three of our competing student-athletes showed tremendous improvement.”
 
Freshman Jenny Boroughs competing in her first ever 5K race was once again the top Pratt finisher. She completed the 5,000 meter course in 21:12 to take 19th place overall and was the second community college finisher behind Jenae Hershberger of Hesston College.
   
Sophomores Blake Thompson and Bernardo Miranda finished their first 8,000 meter race of the season with times of 28:55 and 32:27 to take 40th and 74th place overall.   Thompson’s time of 28:55 was a life time best for the 8,000 meter distance, additionally he was the second community college finisher in the men’s division behind Jacob Landis of Hesston College.

UP NEXT The Beavers head north to compete at Hutchinson Community College in the Blue Dragon Invitational on Saturday Sept. 15. The women will run a 5,000 meter race set for 10:00 a.m. The men will follow at 10:45 a.m. with an 8,000 meter race.  Both races will be held at Westar Energy Prairie Ridge Park, 3200 Lucille Drive, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
