Earning your Bachelors of Science in Nursing after attending Pratt Community College is now even simpler in lieu of an articulation agreement between PCC and the University of Kansas. The agreement, which allows nurses who have completed Pratt’s Associate’s Degree in Nursing program, allows students to transition directly in to KU’s online RN-to-BSN program.

Dean of Nursing, Dr. Gail L. Withers represented the Pratt Community College nursing program at the signing of an agreement with the University of Kansas School of Nursing.

"The courage to break down unnecessary barriers preventing seamless articulation and affordability for associate degree nursing graduates (is important)," said Gail Withers, dean of the PCC School of Nursing. "KU is the first university to really take a look at what is required for someone who is already an RN and has passed the same national exam to become RNs as those who start with a BSN and they have narrowed the required courses from KU to the essentials for nurses to have at the BSN level."

The PCC nursing program has been a leader in Kansas by being selected to pilot a online/hybrid Practical Nursing (PN) program and the first statewide online/hybrid ADN completion program for Paramedics and LPNs.

PCC has offered an associate’s degree in nursing since 1982, and currently has programs on campus in Pratt as well as in Winfield with Cowley Community College for both the PN and ADN programs, and Wichita Kansas in conjunction and Wichita Area Technical College for PN-ADN program.

Students who would like to complete the program will need to complete 120 total credit hours. In addition, students must complete the final 30 hours of their program online through the KU School of Nursing. The new agreement with KU School of Nursing will allow graduates from the ADN program to work as a Registered Nurse while completing a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree.
