Women’s Soccer Remains Undefeated with Dodge Win

 Coming off a conference win on Friday, the PCC Women’s Soccer Team squared off in a non-conference match on Tuesday. This was PCC’s first contest at their temporary home pitch in Havilland, KS, and the win moved them to 2-0 on the season.

Men's Soccer Opens with Win over Indy

The Pratt Community College Men’s Soccer Team opened their 2010 campaign with a hard fought 1-0 win against Independence Community College on Friday. Callum Charlton scored the winning goal just before the halftime whistle. Pratt had several other excellent scoring opportunities in the second half, but could not capitalize on any of them.

Volleyball Goes 2-2 in Opening Tournament

It was a somewhat auspicious beginning for the 2010 Beaver volleyball squad, as the freshman laden team went 2-2 over the weekend in Lamar, Colorado. Pratt defeated Clarendon (TX) and Sheridan (WY), but lost to #21 Laramie County (WY) and Western Wyoming.

Lady Beaver Soccer Team Nets Historic Win

The Lady Beaver Soccer Team opened their inaugural season with a victory over Independence on Friday afternoon. Pratt defeated their Jayhawk Conference opponent 2-1.  Alycia Reed scored the historic first goal for Pratt's women's soccer program, taking a cross from Tanya Morales.

Pratt Community College is proud to be a part of the Pratt community. With a 72 year history, PCC is a two-year public, comprehensive community college and an area vocational school. We offer a well-rounded general education for the student planning to transfer to a four-year college or university. For our technical students, we provide the skills needed to enter directly into the workforce. Pratt Community College is an affordable way to obtain a top-notch education. The average student who attends Pratt Community College for two years instead of a four year university saves $5,500 on average over those two years. PCC has a generous scholarship package and is a granting institution for federal financial aid. Scholarships are available for athletics, academics, technical programs, fine arts and more.
 
PCC provides an active campus environment for more than 350 residents housed in six residence halls. The newest is East Hall Apartments, housing 72 students in apartment style suites, was completed in 2010. There are two other co-ed halls, North Hall and Scholarship Hall, both completed in 1998 and 2002 respectively. In addition to numerous student activities, the college offers over a dozen student organizations and clubs with additional opportunities to participate in music, arts, and athletics - both collegiate and intramural. PCC is a member of the highly competitive NJCAA Region VI, Jayhawk West Conference and offers 7 men's and 7 women's programs, including the newest addition, soccer. While the average daily attendance on campus averages 500-600 students, we service more than 3,000 students annually. These students consist of full-time, part-time, on and off-campus and online.
 
In keeping with the ever changing methods of education outreach PCC is available through partnerships and online. The Pratt/Cowley Nursing Cooperative, the Winfield program encompasses an ADN nursing program, Practical Nurse (PN) programs, as well as on site LPN to RN classes. PCC also has partnered with Coffeyville Community to provide Electrical Technology at the Pratt Campus and Electrical Power Technology at the Coffeyville campus. The eLearning Service Center in Wichita provides the following services: test proctoring, study groups, recruiting functions, athletic signings, computer use, enrollment, questions, Financial Aid information and COMPASS testing.

PCC, Tobacco Free Campus

Effective August 1, 2010, Pratt Community College will be a tobacco free campus. This applies to all tobacco products, including smokeless tobacco, both inside and outside the buildings on all campus properties.

Webcasting Graduation and Nurse Pinning

For the first time, the Nursing Pinning and Commencement Ceremonies will be webcast from Pratt Community College. This will allow friends and family who are unable to travel to still watch the ceremonies.
 

Scott Kice to Speak on Cyber Crimes

Scott Kice, FBI agent, will speak at PCC on Friday, April 30 at 1 p.m. in the Carpenter Auditorium. Kice has been a Special Agent for the FBI for three years, and is currently on the Cyber Crimes Squad in Kansas City. Some of the topics covered will include: some of the different types of cyber cases he has worked with.

Col. Vic Braden to Speak at PCC

Col. Vic Braden will be on the Pratt Community College Campus Thursday, April 29.  He will be presenting an overview of the Afghanistan situation and then open the floor to questions and discussion. Col. Braden’s first presentation will be at 10:00 a.m. in the Carpenter Auditorium and is open to PCC students and the general public.
 

ESP Hosting Dinner to Raise Money for Employee Assistance Fund

Educational Support Professionals (ESP) has initiated the PCC Employee Assistance Fund. Donations will be accepted for the PCC Employee Assitance Fund to defray medial expenses for two employees undergoing treatment for cancer. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match $0.50 for every $1 raised, so please make your checks out to: Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

PCC receives Title III Grant

Three years ago, Pratt Community College teamed up with the Academic for Educational Development in Washington D.C. to begin writing a grant. The application was 48 pages long and outlined different weaknesses and other information about PCC.
