About Me

Kurt McAfee a native of Pratt, Kansas and attended Pratt High School and Pratt Community College.

He graduated from Pratt High School, where he was a four sport letterman and attended Pratt Community College on a baseball scholarship and was a two year starter and team captain. McAfee graduated from Wichita State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wichita State University in 1998 and a Master of Education (Sports Administration) degree from Wichita State University in 2003.
Since arriving at Pratt Community College in 2006 has worked to ensure the success of all sports under his supervision. Several Beaver teams have been ranked in the top twenty in the national polls as well as several All-Americans since his arrival. Pratt Community College also sent several athletes from all sports to NAIA, NCAA Division I and II schools under his watch. McAfee was also instrumental in the branding of a new logo at PCC. He authored the department’s first Policy and Procedure handbook, re-established the Beaver Backer Booster program, instituted mandatory study hall sessions, raised every athletic programs team G.P.A. and helped establish college policies regarding student-athlete travel and retention. He is responsible for the oversight of the entire internal and external operation of the athletic department, managing 12 sports and an $885,000 budget. He has raised money to build a new softball hitting facility and new soccer pitch on the PCC campus.

Prior to being named PCC Athletic Director, Kurt spent two years as Director of Marketing at Wichita State University. His duties included buying media, strategic marketing and campaign development. Prior to that McAfee was the Vice President of the Wichita Sports Commission. Primary function was to bid, coordinate, plan, host and administer athletic event as well as to ensure financial feasibility. McAfee was instrumental in the creation and still servers on the Board of Directors of the Johnny Bench Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award.
He is the past president of the Kansas Collegiate Officials Association and the Wichita Official Association. McAfee has been a college and high school official for over 25 years. He has officiated twenty nine Kansas State High School Championships in football, basketball and softball. McAfee has also officiated the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship in football and basketball.

Kurt and his wife, Connie, are the proud parents of one daughter and one son. Alison graduated from the University of Kansas and Carson who is a sophomore in college.
